Search all available judgments by case name, section, court or keyword — open the judgment search.
Search all available judgments by case name, section, court or keyword. Results are grouped into the law category recorded for each judgment; the category list reflects the categories actually present in the index rather than a generic tax-law list, so every filter returns matching results.

Research judgments by issue, court and binding scope
A judgment index is a discovery tool. For professional reliance, every result must connect to the actual court order, decision date, bench, legal issue and subsequent appellate history. Counts can change as records are added or de-duplicated.
What the law or process actually requires
Start with the issue
Search by section, tax year, adjudicating authority or procedural question—not only by a party name.
Use the court hierarchy
Identify Supreme Court, jurisdictional High Court, other High Court and tribunal decisions separately; precedential weight differs.
Read the operative paragraphs
Note the facts, ratio, whether the matter is remanded, and whether there is an interim stay or final disposition.
Check subsequent history
Review appeal, review, stay, overruling and statutory amendments before treating a summary as current.
Worked example: applying this to a real decision
Two GST judgments mention detention of goods under section 129. One quashes a penalty on particular invoice facts; the other remands for a fresh hearing. A researcher should not label both as a blanket cancellation of e-way-bill penalties. The final legal proposition must track the operative directions and disputed period of each court.
Three mistakes that change the outcome
A count on a landing page is not a guarantee that every linked PDF is still accessible.
Do not treat keyword matches as holdings.
Never call a remand order a final ruling on the underlying tax classification.
Frequently asked questions
Can a case summary replace the judgment PDF?
No. Quote and rely on the authoritative order, including later history.
Is every High Court ruling binding across India?
Binding effect depends on court hierarchy, jurisdiction, facts and the issue decided.
