Section 5A: Regulation of optional trade

What section 5A does

Delegates the eligibility, duration, assessment and contract conditions for optional trades to the Rules.

[5A. Regulation of optional trade.—The qualification, period of apprenticeship training, holding of
test, grant of certificate and other conditions relating to the apprentices in optional trade shall be such as
may be prescribed.

Failure should be tested against sections 30, 31 and 31A as in force from 22 June 2026, alongside contract termination/compensation consequences and any portal or scheme action.
