Section 32 — Revision of orders by Central Government

Reviewed by CA Nikhil Gupta · Last reviewed 18 September 2026

Chapter VIIAppeal and revision

What this section provides

The Central Government may revise any order it has passed, on its own motion or on an application by a registered person, by calling for the record and passing such order as it thinks fit. It cannot revise an order on its own motion after one year, and a registered person must apply within one year of the order being communicated or becoming known (a late application may be admitted for sufficient cause), with the prescribed fee. It will not revise an order where an appeal lies and the time to appeal has not expired or been waived, or an appeal has been filed. Declining to interfere is not treated as an order prejudicial to the person.
