Section 54A: Delegation of powers

Section 54A permits the Governor to delegate specified powers and functions to a Deputy Governor and establishes an evidentiary rule for acts done by the Deputy Governor.

Operative ruleUnder subsection (1), the Governor may by general or special order delegate to a Deputy Governor, subject to stated conditions and limitations, powers and functions exercisable by the Governor under the RBI Act or any other law, where considered necessary for efficient administration of RBI functions. Under subsection (2), exercise of a power or act by a Deputy Governor in pursuance of the Act is conclusive proof of authority.
