Valuer registration application. 246. (1) An application for registration as a valuer under section 514(2) shall be made in Form No. 169, verified accordingly, and accompanied by a non-refundable fee of Rs. 10,000. (2) An application already pending before the relevant authority as of 1 April 2026 is deemed to be an application under sub-rule (1), with no further fee required. (3) Where an applicant is found ineligible under the qualification criteria in rule 247, the fee already paid shall be refunded on application to the relevant authority. (4) A person registered as a valuer under the Wealth-tax Act, 1957 holding a valid certificate as of 31 March 2026 continues as a registered valuer under section 514, provided he updates his details by filing under sub-rule (1) by 30 September 2026; on filing a complete application, registration continues without re-verification of qualifications. (5) Applications under sub-rule (4) are exempt from the fee requirement. (6) A registered valuer must qualify in an examination within the period the Central Government specifies by notification. (7) Failure to qualify that examination within the specified period results in automatic cancellation of registration under section 514, effective on expiry of that period.
