88B. Manner of calculating interest on delayed payment of tax.- The rule prescribes interest on the portion of
tax paid through the electronic cash ledger for delayed section 39 returns, subject to the statutory exceptions
for proceedings, and separately determines interest where input tax credit has been wrongly availed and
utilised. Wrongly availed credit is treated as utilised when the electronic credit ledger balance falls below the
wrongly availed amount; the rule also fixes the date and extent of utilisation.
