Chapter Context

This chapter governs entry and clearance of imported and export goods, including Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills and release orders.

Section 46

Entry of goods on importation

Requires an importer to make the prescribed electronic bill of entry for home consumption or warehousing, within the applicable pre-arrival/arrival timeline, with a true declaration and supporting documents.

Section 47

Clearance of goods for home consumption

Allows home-consumption clearance when the proper officer is satisfied that goods are not prohibited and assessed duty/charges are paid, subject to applicable law.

Section 49

Storage pending clearance

Allows temporary storage in a public warehouse pending clearance where goods cannot be cleared within a reasonable time, subject to permission and statutory time controls; such goods are not treated as warehoused goods merely by this storage.

Section 50

Entry of goods for exportation

Requires export goods to be entered through the prescribed shipping bill, bill of export or other declaration and supporting information.

Section 51

Clearance of goods for exportation

Provides the statutory clearance gate after the proper officer is satisfied regarding export permissibility and applicable duty.
