Restrictions on custody and removal of imported goods
Places unloaded imported goods in the custody of an approved person until home-consumption clearance, warehousing or transhipment, and restricts removal without customs permission.
Requires an importer to make the prescribed electronic bill of entry for home consumption or warehousing, within the applicable pre-arrival/arrival timeline, with a true declaration and supporting documents.
Clearance of goods for home consumption
Allows home-consumption clearance when the proper officer is satisfied that goods are not prohibited and assessed duty/charges are paid, subject to applicable law.
Goods not cleared, warehoused or transhipped within thirty days
Permits disposal of imported goods remaining uncleared beyond the statutory period after notice and customs permission, with special treatment for prescribed/perishable/hazardous goods.
Allows temporary storage in a public warehouse pending clearance where goods cannot be cleared within a reasonable time, subject to permission and statutory time controls; such goods are not treated as warehoused goods merely by this storage.
Entry of goods for exportation
Requires export goods to be entered through the prescribed shipping bill, bill of export or other declaration and supporting information.
Clearance of goods for exportation
Provides the statutory clearance gate after the proper officer is satisfied regarding export permissibility and applicable duty.
