Provisional institutional cash data for 9 September show FII/FPI net selling of ₹582.99 crore and DII net buying of ₹1,509.04 crore. This was foreign selling, but not a one-way liquidity vacuum: domestic institutions still absorbed more than the FII cash outflow.

The live Moneycontrol market page displayed GIFT Nifty 23,415.50, down 75 points or 0.32% when checked around 07:09 IST. Because GIFT Nifty trades a futures contract with its own basis, the correct editorial framing is a negative opening bias, not a guaranteed 75-point Nifty spot gap. NSE filed its UDRHP on Wednesday night. Source reports put the likely issue size at roughly ₹23,000 crore to ₹23,500 crore, lower than the approximately ₹30,000 crore contemplated earlier, as PSU insurers and a Morgan Stanley-linked selling shareholder reduced the shares proposed for sale. The transaction remains an offer for sale; NSE itself does not receive fresh issue proceeds. Moneycontrol - NSE UDRHP NSE offer-document portal
Reports also cited institutional book interest of about ₹85,000 crore. That is an expression of reported demand, not subscription data. The exact share count, percentage sold, price band and final issue size should be taken from the accessible filed/offer documents when formally published.
FIU-IND issued Section 13 PMLA non-compliance notices to 15 Virtual Digital Asset Service Providers: Weex, Blofin, Rezorex, Bitunix, DigiFinex, Toobit, XT.com, Latoken, WOO X, Pionex, ChangeNow, SimpleSwap, Fixedfloat, WhiteBIT and Guardarian. It also issued notices regarding takedown of their apps/URLs from public access under the IT Act/intermediary framework. PIB / Finance Ministry primary release
The legal point is particularly important for offshore crypto platforms: FIU-IND said the obligations are activity-based and not dependent on physical presence in India. A VDA platform serving Indian activity may therefore need FIU registration plus PMLA reporting, record-keeping and related AML/CFT controls even if the entity is based overseas.
The rupee closed at 95.1050/$. Reuters reported likely RBI spot dollar sales and near-maturity dollar/rupee sell-buy swaps as the central bank sought to support the currency and absorb excess rupee liquidity. The one-year implied forward yield reached 3.16%. Reuters - rupee / swaps Reuters - liquidity swaps
The broader balance-of-payments story deserves a dedicated number. BofA analysis cited about $136.4 billion mobilised through the special foreign-currency framework in roughly 90 days. Other reporting breaks the total into approximately $127.226 billion FCNR(B), $5.260 billion OFCB and $3.891 billion ECB flows. This is not the same as saying every dollar became a reserve increase; the programme also created a large rupee-liquidity management challenge. BofA / FCNR analysis
BofA's projections—such as a possible $90 billion FY27 balance-of-payments surplus and up to ₹25-40 lakh crore of additional non-food credit potential—are analyst estimates, not RBI forecasts. That distinction is retained throughout the package.
RBI officials said the FX-Retail platform will add euro, British pound, Swiss franc, Canadian dollar and UAE dirham pairs, with yen, Australian dollar, Singapore dollar, Hong Kong dollar and New Zealand dollar planned later. The expansion widens retail access beyond a narrow currency set. RBI FX-Retail expansion report
RBI is also exploring gold tokenisation as a possible asset on its Unified Markets Interface after trials involving tokenised certificates of deposit and commercial paper settled using wholesale CBDC. This is exploratory policy/technology work—not a live retail gold-token product or a final regulatory framework. UMI gold-tokenisation report
India-US trade: Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said the agreement is “more or less finalised”, although a few issues remain and the framework for preferential market access is still being worked out before signature. That means the deal is advanced, but not yet signed. DD India - Commerce Secretary
Exports: a late 9 September Commerce Ministry/PIB release said India's merchandise exports grew over 15% during April-August despite global trade headwinds. PIB - exports / BRICS trade
GST data: CBIC rejected claims that excluding compensation cess distorted reported growth. The Board's argument is that compensation cess had been removed from most items from September 2025 and from tobacco from February 2026, so fair year-on-year analysis should compare the same CGST/SGST/IGST base. August gross GST was about ₹2 lakh crore, +14.8% YoY; net GST about ₹1.68 lakh crore, +8.3%. GST comparability report
SEBI's 9 September commodity-derivatives circular sets client limits at 2% of deliverable supply for Broad commodities, 1% for Narrow and 0.5% for Sensitive commodities, alongside transition and graded-penalty rules. SEBI also published a consultation on strengthening governance of Market Infrastructure Institutions. The latter remains a consultation, not a final rule. SEBI 9 Sep listing
